Summary: On the surface, China seems a riddle to foreigners who try to make sense of its culture, language, communication styles and ways of interacting with the surrounding environment. But just as putting together the pieces of a jigzaw puzzle to make a meaningful image, the seminars of Decoding China wish to create a meaningful approach to undertstanding this fascinating culture which has exsited for the last 5000 years!

The rich ethnic diversity of China will be introduced in this module via a photographic slide show, videographic material and music cd¡¯s recognizing that China is one of the top 5 most ethnically diverse countries in the world.
Activities: Analyze segments of cd¡¯s and dvd¡¯s which contain ethnographic material from dances, music and other cultural elements of China¡¯s major ¡°nationalities¡±.

Instructor's bio:
Victor H. Garza is a cross-cultural trainer who has worked with Universities, government programs, mass media outlets and in corporate settings. Victor has been commended for his work by Mexico¡¯s president Vicente Fox during his 2001 State visit to China. Victor established himself in Hangzhou, as a trainer and consultant, delivering language and cross-cultural programs for International Companies (General Electric, Hewlett Packard, Intel, Johnson & Johnson, Lucent Technologies, Microsoft, among a few). He has traveled around the world's 6 continents, has visited over 40 countries and has been to all 34 regions and provinces of China.
